Penang, June 15: Shaaban Hussin will celebrate his birthday tomorrow in fine style. The 33-year-old came from behind to win the PGM-ASEAN PGA Penang Classic today and did so with three strokes to spare.
With a performance that matched his career best score, the Malaysian international was bogey-free on the final day as he finished the tournament on 18-under 270. He started the fourth round at Penang Golf Resort in Bertam two shots off the lead and fired a final round seven-under 65.
Penang, Malaysia, June 11: The PGM-ASEAN PGA Penang Classic tees-off tomorrow at Penang Golf Resort marking the second time this season the ASEAN PGA Tour has joint sanctioned an event with the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour.
The US$60,000 tournament is the fifth event of the year on the ASEAN PGA Tour and as expected boasts a strong Malaysian field as well a wealth of leading names from abroad.
Airil Rizman, Sukree Othman, R. Nachimuthu, and Kenneth De Silva lead the Malaysia challenge while also playing are Indonesian number one Rory Hie, and Mars Pucay and Ferdie Aunzo from the Philippines.
