Phuket, June 5: Juvic Pagunsan from the Philippines recorded his first win on the Mercedes-Benz Tour today following a runaway seven stroke victory in the US$60,000 Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand.

Starting the day with a four stoke lead he closed with a five-under-par 65 at Laguna Phuket Golf Club.

Thailand’s Udorn Duangdecha claimed outright second after shooting a 68 while Lam Chih Bing from Singapore was one stroke further back in third position. He carded a 67.

Pagunsan powers into lead

Phuket, June 4: Juvic Pagunsan from the Philippines put himself on the threshold of his maiden victory on the Mercedes-Benz Tour today by taking the third round lead in the US$60,000 Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand.

The 32 year old, who has collected a wealth of victories during his impressive career, fired a five-under-par 65 for a four shot lead over Thailand’s Pattaraphol Khanthacha and Udorn Duangdecha.

He leads the tournament on 14-under-par 196 at Laguna Phuket Golf Club.

Flu Stricken Pattaraphol Surprise Leader

Phuket, June 3: Thailand’s talented crop of young golfers flourished once again today at the US$60,000 Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand with new kid on the block Pattaraphol Khanthacha taking the halfway lead.

The 20-year-old from Ratchaburi shot his second successive five-under-par 65 for a tournament total of 10-under-par 130.

He leads by one stroke from Filipino Juvic Pagunsan at Laguna Phuket Golf Club. Pagunsan also carded a 65.Thailand’s Wisut Artjanawat and Lam Chih Bing from Singapore are two strokes further back after carding rounds of 68.

Scorching Low Scores at Laguna Phuket

Phuket, June 2: The opening day of the US$60,000 Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand witnessed some sensational low scoring with four players taking the lead with course record five-under-par 65s and a 13 year old amateur upstaging the professionals with a 67.

Thailand’s Wisut Artjanawat, Ratsak Hansapiban and Pattaraphol Khanthacha and Singaporean Lam Chih Bing lead the way after confident rounds at Laguna Phuket Golf Club.

They lead by a shot from Thailand’s Namchok Tantipokhakul, winner of last year’s Mercedes-Benz Tour Order of Merit list, and Juvic Pagunsan from the Philippines.

Tour Winners Target Title at Laguna Phuket

Phuket, June 1: The Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand tees-off at Laguna Phuket Golf Club tomorrow and has attracted one of the strong fields of the season so far.

Jay Bayron from the Philippines, who is currently ranked number one on the Mercedes-Benz Tour after three successive runner-up finishes, heads the line up in the fourth event on the 10-leg circuit.

The winners of the first three tournaments who pipped Bayron to the post are also competing.

Tour Set for Laguna Phuket

May 24: The Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand will head to the exotic island of Phuket next week and be played at the Laguna Phuket Golf Club from June 2 to 5.

The US$60,000 tournament will be the fourth event on this season’s 10-leg Mercedes-Benz Tour and promises to attract the rising stars of golf in Southeast Asia.

Vintage Performance for Tour Championships


August 26: The Mercedes-Benz Tour will reach an exciting climax this year when it heads to the season-ending Mercedes-Benz Masters Thailand at The Vintage Club.

To be played from November 27 to 30, the inaugural tournament has been positioned as the fledgling circuit’s Tour Championship and will boast prize money of US$75,000.

The top-60 players from the Mercedes-Benz Tour Order of Merit, after the penultimate event, will be eligible to compete in what will be the 10th tournament of the year.
