Asean PGA Tour Fact Sheet

  • The ASEAN PGA Tour was launched in 2007 with the objective of providing more playing opportunities for up and coming professionals from the Asean region.
  • The Asean PGA Tour was formed by the Asean PGA – a golf body hoping to aid the development of professional golf in Southeast Asia.
  • Malaysia’s Danny Chia had the distinction of winning the very first tournament on the Asean PGA Tour when he claimed The International Championship in Jakarta in 2007.
  • The commercial partner to the ASEAN PGA is World Sport Group – a Singapore-based promoter handling the television and sponsorship side of the Tour.
  • In 2013 the Tour boasts a record 12 tournaments worth an overall purse of US$1,095,000.
  • In 2013 the Tour will joint sanction four events with the All Thailand Golf Tour, run by Sports Management Group (SMG), and three with the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour.
  • The Tour will visit five countries in 2013.
  • In 2008, Mercedes-Benz signed a three-year agreement to become title sponsor of the Tour.
  • Thailand’s Wisut Artjanwat has claimed the most titles on Tour by winning four times.
